Taoist Master Li Hechun Retreat at Tao Garden Jan. 08th. through Jan.28th 2012
Taoist Tai Chi & Morning Chi Practices
 |
WEEK 1: November 25 – December 1, 2012 Tai Chi Cultivation in 24 movements |
| |
The 24-form is known as the “international” style of Tai-chi, developed for the purpose of competition. It includes the basics of Tai-chi, and is good for beginners as well as for advanced practitioners. With this rather simple form, the understanding of the inner workings of Tai-chi can be developed. Master Li emphasizes the internal practice in terms of the “feeling” being generated by this Tai-chi style. “Feeling” refers to an achieved interconnectedness of body, mind and the specific motion of chi associated with this Tai-chi form.

WEEK 2: December 02 – 08, 2012 Tai Chi cultivation in 48 movements |
| |
A different Tai chi form which combines four styles; Chen, Yang, Wu and Sun. With this form the “best” of the above styles comes together in a sense that it furthers the internal practice and the understanding of the essence of Tai-chi. This form is beautiful and rather simple, and it is good for beginners as well as for advanced students who wish to develop the Tai chi "feeling" more.

WEEK 3: December 09 – 15, 2012 Wudang Style Tai Chi |
| |
This form originated at the Taoist temples, it is not a popular style, rather, it is regarded as a sacred practice. Wudang Tai-chi is also a healing practice which involves a cultivation of the Tao. The Tai-chi
"feeling" generated is different; with this form, specific chi- , energy-channels of the "body-mind" are being charged which are different from the channels that are normally activated with other Taichi
styles.

Morning Chi Practices |
| |
Master Li will be teaching chi cultivation which serves as a proper warm-up for the Tai chi. These practices will ground the body, massage and open the joints, relax the muscles, draw the earth chi to
cleanse the body-mind and, draw the heavenly chi to charge the body-mind. The Taoist Morning Practices serve to awaken the body-mind to the rising yang chi in nature. These practices have been
designed to open the yang chi channels (meridians) and to stimulate the associated five yang organs. The accumulation of the yang chi is refreshing; it cleanses the blood and strengthens the bones. The simple movements gently exercise the tendons which support to the chi meridians, the muscles and
the bones. Finally, these practices enhance our ability to feel the movement of chi in the body. This “feeling” will calm the heart and harmonize the spirit, – and generate a joyful heart.
